General information for our existing parents.

Parents Introduction

Explore
We know that education is most successful when parents/carers, staff and governors all work together. Parents and carers can be involved with the school community in a variety of ways. We encourage parents and carers to speak to the class teacher about any issues.

Trips and Visits

Explore
As part of our school vision, we want our children to have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of the wonderful things that our community has to offer.

Attendance and Punctuality

Explore
Gainsborough Primary School is committed to ensuring that all of our students get the most out of their education, and wants to support our students to maintain regular attendance. Children who attend school regularly learn more and achieve better results. As parents, you have an important role in ensuring that your child attends school regularly, unless there is a good reason for his/her absence. Acceptable reasons for absence include sickness or serious family circumstances, such as bereavement.

Behaviour

Explore
Our school behaviour policy is ‘Stay on Green’, which is underpinned with positive behaviour management and the restorative approach. Gold, silver and bronze awards are given to children who demonstrate excellent learning behaviours.

School Uniform

Explore
Gainsborough Primary School has a compulsory school uniform which is worn with pride by all children in the school. Order forms are available at the school office for you to order uniform.

Parent's Evenings

Explore
Parents’ Evenings are held once a term. This is an opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher to look at their learning and find out how well they are achieving personally and academically. It is also your opportunity to share any news about your child that may be important for the school to be aware of.

Healthy Schools

Explore
The National Healthy Schools Programme is an exciting long term initiative that helps young people and their schools to be healthy. Healthy Schools help children and young people to reach their potential by building on a solid foundation of health to do better in learning and in life.

School Meals

Explore
From January 2019 ALL full-time pupils attending Gainsborough will be entitled to Free School Meals.

Friends of Gainsborough School

Explore
The FrOGS (Friends of Gainsborough) is a parent and teacher association crucial to the successful running of the school.

Online Safety

Explore
Online Safety or Internet Safety, is a term which is used to highlight the importance of maximising a user’s personal safety and security risks to private information and property associated with using the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime in general.

Managing the transition to home schooling

Explore
Here are some ideas to help children bridge the gap between being at home and getting ready to learn. They are designed for you and your child or for two or more children to work together to start thinking about their learning. It can be very hard to start work from a standing start, so these will help children to think and talk about a topic area, so they are ‘warmed up’ for the following activities.
