Year 6 have started this years sharing assemblies with a very interesting introduction to Walter Tull and World War 1. Children retold the story of Walter Tull’s incredible football career, as one of the first black British footballers, and his journey as a soldier in World War 1, which they have learnt about in History. Well done Year 6! #keepconnected

And in a blink of an eye- it’s done. You have completed another milestone, conquered all of the hurdles, mastered many skills, built courage beyond measure and achieved results we are so proud of. Not everyone will know the challenges you have faced but everyone will be able to celebrate your achievements, so hold your heads up high, aim for the stars and shine your bright, bright lights for all to see! Well done Year 6 Skylarks. 🌠

Our Year 6 play told the story of Refugee Boy, based on a book written by Benjamin Zephaniah. We wrote our own words, created our own songs and told a deeply emotional story about belonging, change and resilience. The children displayed these qualities throughout rehearsals and the performance, and they were incredible to watch. We are sending them out into the world, braver, more determined and with confidence and pride. Well done Year 6! Well done Gainsborough.
