“Every artist was first an amateur.” – Ralph Waldo Emmerson
At Gainsborough Primary School we believe that art inspires creativity, imagination and inventiveness. We believe that art gives our pupils the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to engage and express responses to ideas and experiences. It fires their imagination and is a fundamental means of personal expression.
Art should enable children to express and communicate what they see, feel and think. Children should experiment and explore their ideas, use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials, techniques and processes. Self-evaluation of work is encouraged and children are taught how to be reflective & analytical to achieve their goals. We believe every child has an inner artist waiting to be unveiled!
Art lessons are taught on a weekly basis by our very own in-house art teacher.
Come and join us to make this incredible piece of art during parents in class afternoon. We are making an enormous whole school piece of art to raise awareness of our commitment to the Rights Respecting Schools initiative. And because it is Valentine’s Day next week we are spreading some love! Years 1-5, Parents in Class, 2.45pm, Friday 9th February. #keepkind #keepconnected
Parents in class- Friday 9th February, 2.45pm, Years 1-6. Throughout the Spring term we have been looking at the UN convention of the Rights of the Child. We would like parents to come into class on Friday 9th February to help us make some art work which will bring attention to the initiative. #unrc #rightsrespectingschool #keepconnected
Come and view our BHM art. We have been learning about black scientists who have made a huge contribution to the world of science. Come and view our exhibition in the attic while you are at parents evening!
Year 1 have been painting self portraits in Art. They have learnt to mix different colours to match their skin tone, and studied the features of their faces. Excellent work Year 1! We can’t wait to see the finished portraits. 👦🏾 🧒🏼
