The school is arranged over 4 floors. All of our classes are named after British Birds that the children may encounter in the parks and gardens of Hackney.
Every academic year, along with the school’s governing body, we set targets to continue the school’s journey towards being outstanding and realising our vision for the children of Gainsborough.
Gainsborough Primary School is a one-form entry community school with a Nursery, Preschool and a Children’s Centre. The children in our care range from six months to eleven years old. We admit up to 30 children in each of our classes.
Gainsborough Primary School is a rights respecting school. This means that we put the 54 articles in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of everything we do. As a school we promote children’s rights and empower them to become global citizens. The UNCRC recognises that all children around the world are entitled to these rights.
At Gainsborough school we welcome and value all children equally irrespective of special educational need or disability. We are committed to providing equal access, for all children, to a broad and balanced social and academic curriculum, including the new National Curriculum, and to the life of the school.
With reference to Article 23 from the UN convention of the Rights of the Child: Children who have any kind of disability have the right to special care and support, as well as all the rights in the Convention, so that they can live full and independent lives.
