The School Day

The School Day

Home > Curriculum  > Teaching & Learning > The School Day

We operate a soft start system. Children can come into the school from 8.30am and start to enter classes from 8.45am. At this time children will complete some routine tasks to settle them into the morning: times tables practice, home reading book swaps, spelling or handwriting. We believe this is a positive way to start the school day and allows staff and children to have a more personal start to the day.

Staff are available in the playgrounds to meet parents and class teachers are available at the end of the day to dismiss children and speak to parents. Teachers will take registers in classes at 9.00am. Any child that arrives after 9.00am will receive a late mark against their name. The school will be opened again for parents at 3:20pm in preparation for the end of the school day which is at 3.30pm.

There are assemblies every day for either the whole school or specific year groups. Parents are invited to attend when their child’s class is giving an assembly. Class Assemblies are held on Friday afternoons at 3.15pm.

Playtimes

Children in the Early Years have the opportunity to learn inside and outside throughout the school day. While we await the completion of the building works, the Reception Children have learning outside timetabled throughout the day. Please speak with the class teacher for more information. Older children do not have a break in the afternoon.

2 and 3 Year Old Nursery session times

Morning sessions run from 8.45am to 11.45am. Children must be dropped off at their class playgrounds at 8.45am and collected promptly at 11.45am from the school office each day.

Afternoon sessions run from 12.45pm to 3.45pm. Children must be brought into the main office promptly at 12.45pm where they will be greeted by a member of their class team. They should then be collected promptly at 3.45pm from their class playground.

Full time sessions run from 8.45am to 3.45pm. Children must be dropped off at their class playgrounds at 8.45am and collected promptly from here at 3.45pm each day.
