Spring 2…
What a last week!
This week the children from Years 1 – dropped our usual timetable of reading, writing and maths to complete some other learning in other subjects. We completed DT units, cooking units, planting and completed RE units. The teachers and children really enjoyed the week and the teachers were blown away by everyone’s ability to adapt to a different timetable and complete some fantastic learning. Well done everyone!
Year 2 Woodberry Wetlands
This week Year 2 visited Woodberry Wetlands to support their learning about different habitats. They searched for tadpoles, frogs and minnos in the wetlands and spotted a range of birds and
What an Egg-cellent end of term event!
Thank you to the wonderful FROG’s team at Gainsborough for putting on such a fabulous end of term event. The children really enjoyed their games challenge: completing games and collecting stamps to win their egg. Thank you to Vicki and Rory for bringing the hot dog stand and to our wonderful staff who gave up their afternoon to support the event.
Reader of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 with a new book, as the Reader of the Week. The award is for commitment, reading progress, engagement or sharing their love for reading. Please support your child with reading at home! After all, reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

Most Improved Writer of the Week
Each week we will award one child from Years 1-6 as most improved writer of the week. The award is for those who have shown a significant improvement in handwriting or writing throughout the week.

Each week we celebrate an amazing achievement from each class. Children are celebrated in assembly, receive a gold certificate and their name in the newsletter. Please celebrate their learning at home too!
Nursery Ducks
Nursery Ducks was awarded a Gainsborough Gold award for having a great half term. You have worked hard to make friends, join in and have lots of fun! Well done Ducks class!
Nursery Geese
Nursery Geese was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for trying their best, making new friends and having fun. Well done Nursery Geese class!
Nursery Swans
Everyone in Swans was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for making good friends, joining carpet sessions and trying their best. Well done Swans class!
Reception Doves
Prince was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for being brave on his first day, joining in all activities fearlessly and making new friends. Well done Prince!
Year 1 Wrens
Lucinda was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for being an excellent role model in Year 1. Lucinda always has a positive attitude, completes her homework and puts in a huge amount of effort into school. Well done Lucinda!
Year 2- Owls
Year 2 Owls were awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for making a great contribution to RE lessons and having some very good discussions. Well done Year 2 Owls!
Year 3 – Hummingbirds
Everyone in Year 3 Hummingbirds was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for having a fabulous half term, in particular a great week completing DT, cooking and planting lessons. Well done everyone!
Year 4- Herons
Dovon was awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for contributing great ideas and RE this week, discussion what Jesus and the Bible teach Christians. Well done Dovon!
Year 5 – Skylarks

Year 6 Magpies were awarded a Gainsborough Gold Award this week for showing great teamwork, perseverance and patience during DT and cooking lessons this week. Well done Year 6 Magpies!
Coming up at Gainsborough…
Easter Holidays at the Children’s Centre
We have a range of stay and play sessions this week running from the Children’s Centre. All families are welcome with children under 8 years of age. We have a morning session fro 9.3–11.30am and an afternoon sessions from 1-3pm.
Please note Gainsborough’s entire site, including Preschool and Children’s Centre, will be closed from Monday 14th April until Monday 21st April, when the Summer term restarts on Tuesday 22nd April.
