Rights Respecting Schools

We are proud to say that as a school we are working towards becoming a fully Rights Respecting School.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award is a Unicef UK programme that aims to put children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK.

We have achieved the Recognition of Commitment which recognises that we are committed to the Rights of Children. This means that Unicef has recognised that we are actively seeking opportunities to promote the rights throughout the school community and to educate the children here at Gainsborough on their journey to become global citizens.

Each half term we will focus on a different right / rights.

This half term we are focussing on:

Article 15: You have the right to choose your own friends and to join and set up groups, as long as this is not harmful

Article 31: You have right to rest and play

We have a Rights Respecting Schools team of children and are recruiting for parents to join our Rights Respecting Steering Group. If you are interested please see Miss Gordon or Mrs Maljee.
