Curriculum

The school curriculum is based on a variety of schemes adapted to suit the needs of our children and our community.

Reading

FS— Read write Inc. (RWI)

KS 1—Read write Inc. (RWI) leading to Success for All (SfA)

KS 2— Success for All (SfA)

Class reading session—1 x 30 minutes per week. During this session teacher reads the class reader and the TA checks learning logs. For those children who are not able to access the class reader they will be part of a guided reading group.

Accelerated reader session—x1 1hour per week. These sessions take place in the ICT Suite. Children complete quizzes and read from Bug Club. The Class Teacher and TA will complete running records.

Writing

Gainsborough’s writing planning supports the half termly topics. Teachers follow a cycle of immersion/imitation, plan, write, edit and publish.

Spelling

Headstart spelling programme.

Maths

Primary Advantage Maths Programme; using ‘My Pals’ as a supporting text

RE

Gainsborough’s RE curriculum is based on the Primary Advantage Federation and Southwark scheme’s of work.

Computing

Gainsborough has developed it’s own Computing curriculum which has a mix of digital literacy, coding and e-safety.

Science

The Hamilton Trust.

PSHCE

 Based on Jigsaw Values Curriculum.
